I am in need of a few pictures of a 67 bench seat, especially the sides with the support mechanism, and the locks and their location on the back of the seat. Also, if the inner seat belts were routed through the lower frame (like the Cutlass bench) or over the frame. I also need a picture of the original emblems if you can help me.
please send to HurdRep@ChevyTalk.org and note that it is seat info please so it won't get deleted.
Thanks for your time

I can take some pictures, but will have to wait on developing. If I understand your seat belt question correctly, they are routed through the frame. That is NOT between the lower seat and the back rest.

Thanks Dale,
I have a Cutlass seat which does have slots in the lower frame for the seat belts to go through. I have never seen ( at least I don't remember) the Chevelle bench and I don't know how close the Cutlass will match it. The books I have say it is the same frame, but I want to make sure before I clean it and reupholster it.

On my bench seat there is a plastic sleeve that inserts into the slot. The sleeve protects the seat cover and the belt.

Thanks. I have those also. What I am most concerned about is the ends of the seat, and whether the chrome braces are exposed on the out side of the seat back, or whether they are under the seat back upholstery. I can't locate a picture. Help anyone with a bench?

Chrome braces?? The only chrome I see is the seat adjust lever and the seat back lock lever. Tell me what you want a pic of and I'll take it. Side, front, rear view, Seat back up or down?

Side view please. That's what I was afraid of. I have a cutlass bench, but I think the arms that hold the backs to the bottom are exposed on a Cutlass and are chromes. I think the Chevelle had the arms under the upholstery.

I'll take a side pic. What I think you are describing is the hinge that connects to the seat back. If so, on the Chevelle it is on the outside, plain metal, painted silver. However it is covered by a plastic cover colored the same as the seats. Having said that a pic is worth a thousand words so I'll get on it.

Dave check out this (http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=001937) from Restoration Corner. Has a good pic of a 66 front bench seat.

The ebay 66 does show the hinge with the cover that I mentioned. Is that the same as the chrome piece in the Cutlass?

I was just looking at that picture. I think I may have figured it out. The Cutlass seat has a chrome hinge cover over the black hinge shown in this picture. I t is not structural< and it runs all of the way up the side of the seat. I think I can just omit the trim piece and my upholsterer will have a nice bench frame to work with. I am headed out now to go to Chickashea <sp>, OK to their swap meet. I still want you to see what I have so I will shoot a digital when I get back and let you take a look.
Thanks,
