I don't have any belts in my 68 El Camino now, and just finishing up the interior. Were shoulder belts an option in 68? If so, can I assume there's a mounting hole for them somewhere behind the sail panel? Any info would be helpful.
Also, I was looking at retractable belts from on the andover web site http://www.andoauto.com/retrofit.htm
anybody ever used these?

Yes, there is a mounting point for your shoulder belts. It is hidden by the headliner.

I'm using the Andover belts in my '68 Chevelle, and if you do a search on cjlandry, he's got them in his '68 El Camino. Great belts!

I too am using the Andover Automotive 3-point belts/harnesses in my '69 Elky. It's a big improvement in comfort and usability over the seperate shoulder strap the factory provided. I made a couple of simple adapters to bolt in place of the factory shoulder strap hardware. I had to do some drilling to mount the inertial reel box and "fixed" end to the floor pan. Let me know if you would like more info and/or pictures.

Mike - I'd love to see some pics. My 68 came with no belts at all, and there's no evidence that it ever had shoulder belts. Since I have no hardware, I'd like to know what you needed in addition to what Andover provides with their belts.
Also, what offset do I want - 2 1/2 or 8 1/2"?

Send me an email and I'll take pics for you on Monday. I'm leaving for Corpus Christi, TX in a few hours to visit family.
The pics will show where the mounting location is.
Call Andover and tell 'em what you have, that's what I did. If it's for buckets you'll want the plastic covered buckle strap. If bench, leave the plastic cover out.
I used all the original seatbelt mounts for my retractables. It's pretty easy. Took me about 30 minutes to install 'em.
