View Full Version : Using different holes for headliner bows

One of the holes for my headliner bow got enlarged and there isn't enough tension on the bow to keep it up now (it droops). Can I use a different hole or will I have to change all the bows positions to compensate for it? There's only three bows in an El Camino and the one that has the problem is the bow closest to the front, and in the front hole. I would think for a new headliner installation it wouldn't matter but everyone makes a big deal out of having to remember where each bow went. Hope that makes sense lol. Thanks

are you saying the hole is too large,
and the bow slips right thru it?
is that why it droops?

Yes, I must've enlarged it when I removed the bow

Have you thought of taking a mig welder and just hit the spot where the hole is and re drill?

That's what I want to do to it, that's the only way I can think to fix it. Never welded before though. I guess I'll find some way to fix it. Just something to close it up some more so the bow doesn't move around.

Try a Sleeve, or a Collar on the bow.
if not, move the bow in the other hole(s).
As long as the bow rubs against the sheet metal
on the roof, you will be o.k.
THATS the reason for the 3 holes.
