I am converting my factory instrumented SS dash to aftermarket whiteface guages. All the mounting hardware is made up (using an old test piece instrument cluster) and I am ready to roll except for a question.

When I remove the old SS dash guages and some of the mounting tin that is back in there I want to clean the inside of the big plastic lense that runs across all the guages.

Any ideas on how to do this/ what to use/ There are no scratches or anytihng to remove and I sure dont want to add any during the cleaning process.

A second question; Does anyone have any experience with repro lenses for this application? Are they any good some of the repro stuff is JUNK and while I don't think I have to remove the original lense I would like some data on the subject.

Last but not least ..how does one remove the stock lense? Is it glued in in such a way that ya need a miracle to get it out? What kind of work is needed. My test piece "mule" dash came to me w/o a lense so I have no idea what it takes to get rid of the old lense.

I just did this on my '72. In the strip of idiot lights, there are 3 black panels. They pop out and there are screws under those that need to come out. For your 2nd question, I think with the glued stock lens, you just need an X-acto knife and patience. Then more glue when you put it back together. smile.gif
