Hello all,

I'm looking to recover a rear seat for my 70 Chevelle and have a question. The seat is in good shape, execpt there is a 3"x5" section of foam missing on the top right corner of the seat back.

What is the best way to replace this? Should I just cut out a small section of the same size/density of foam or should I replace the entire piece? Any help and the best way to do the entire job is greatly appreciated!

Here's a pic and thank you in advance!!

I was going to say to replace the foam but I looked it up at one place and they want $257 for rear seat foam! You might be able to cut out a piece of foam and put it in but I bet it will make a hump or sink in once it is covered. :(

i recovered my front seat and it had a part where the foam was folded on the edge kind of a W in the corner. It would have left a big hole behind the vinyl so i took some carpet padding and glue it in then trimed it to shape, cant even tell. But this is an are that wont get any wear from use. i think ill have to do something similar to the top edge of the front seat backs , the foam is wore out.You see and feel the springs or whatever it is ,i havent taken that apart yet.

I have also used carpet padding. I use 3M spray glue on both surfaces. Once tacky it sticks and won't come apart. I use a sanding flap wheel on an angle grinder and shape the piece. The only time I've replaced the foam is when it has severe damage or split completely in half. Carpet padding comes in varing densitys. You can use it to build up old seat foam.

Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it......

The carpet padding trick should do it for me as I doubt the rear seat will ever be used in this car......unless someone is crazy enough to climb through the cage.

One more question.........does anyone have measurements on where the buttons are placed in the rear seat?

Once again, any help is appreciated!!
