After reading many post on painting plastic parts I have a few questions. Ive deciced to go with Sem plastic prep. What Iam confused about is what is the Sem "sand free" product for. Do I need to use this also? Iam changing the bucket backs from black to dark green and my armrest bases have faded so Iam also doing them. The car is 70 chevelle with dark green interior I couldnt find any Sem paint to match. If you have any ideas where to get the paint to match please let me know. My bucket backs have some light gouges and scuffs. Is there anything I should do these areas before painting? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Stacey

If you want good answers/help on this try out this site. They sell the full line of SEM products + more. I used them and they were a great help. Email responses were in hours. Can't believe you couldn't get a color match. They sent me a color chart. I just followed their directions and everything came out great. I also used a clear for added protection.

on my rear armrests console and seatbacks I used SEM15. Either way what it does is prep the plastic to chemically bond to the paint (or else it just flakes off). 1- use a good detergent, like pink dish soap, and really get the parts clean and let em dry. 15 minutes or so before paint hit them with SEM15 (sand-free may be the same product).
As far as paint use laquer, I used pro-color gloss black. Looks great 3 years later, no flaking or wear. With laquer use several light coats
