: Monaco Seats - Anyone use them?
analyte Aug 24th, 02, 3:44 AM I am looking for a set of aftermarket buckets to purchase in the next couple of months. I have looked at the Procar Elite and Corbeau Sport seats and they do look pretty good from the pictures. It looks like the Procar is the more sporty looking seat.
I have also looked at Monaco GT seats, they are about $100 more per seat but they also look very good. At first look, I seem to like these the best but not sure about the quality of the seats or durability. Anyone use these seats?
I am 6'5 about 210 with a 66 Chevelle if that helps with seat size selection. Still don't know whether to get wide or not if available. Any input here?

analyte Aug 24th, 02, 6:59 PM Thanks for the reply Ahsom70, but I have already used the search function and read all about the procar seats and Corbeau.
But nothing on the Monaco's. Thus the reason for this post.

West72Chevelle Aug 25th, 02, 3:55 PM Are you talking about the Monaco seats that Jamex makes? I bought an interior mag over a year ago and they installed a set in a Chevelle I think. I'll look for the mag and try to get some more info. The seats are AWESOME looking.
analyte Aug 25th, 02, 6:36 PM I'm looking at these seats.

MAXX2 Aug 26th, 02, 12:15 AM Are you just crusing, or are you going to do some serious racing?
It makes quite a difference in what you can buy/use.

analyte Aug 27th, 02, 4:39 AM Actually, when my 66 in done, it will still be my daily driver, but I will drag race every now and then to keep the spirit alive.
Just since I have sold the TA, I have this feeling after I get done with the car, I might have to take it autocross racing just to see how it does compared to the newer f-bodies and such. But that would be maybe a once thing or rare occasison.
So, daily driver for sure, drag race occasionlly, and may attempt autocross.

MAXX2 Aug 27th, 02, 10:57 AM The reason we asked the question was because racing organizations like SCTA/USFRA (Flying mile/land speed racing) now required a fixed back set for racing.
They went to this rule, as recently a racer lost control of his car at 125 MPH, flipped it, and the seat collapsed on him. Then his feet went flying all over, and he was injured. They also now require leg restraints.
Don't know the rules/specs for NHRA, etc.
As a footnote, quite a few lesser know racers in different venues have been killed over the past 3 years because of roll cage failures.
Again, don't know the NHRA rules, however, the SCTA and USFRA have mandated very "Strict/Stiff Rules" on the Certification of the Roll Cage.

mahlmann Aug 28th, 02, 10:07 PM I bought the Corbeau seats unupholstered when my local speed shop had their annual summer sale and got 10% off and free shipping, bringing the cost to $180 per seat delivered to my upholstery guy. I then had them upholstered in leather and courderoy to match my Jeep's interior. This added $300 per seat. I suspect cheaper materials would lower this cost somewhat, but not too much since it's a lot of labor. The upholstery guy thought they were very well made seats with a reclining mechanism that looks an awful lot like Recaro's. They support you VERY well.
