Can anyone please tell me what gear ratio's where available in 1970 for a 396 car . This car was an automatic switch to a 4 speed. Also at 60 mph what kind of RPM's a 330 ratio would turn compared to a 410 ratio.THANKS FOR ANY HELP

To find your gear ratio if the rear end is a posi, jack up the rear of the car and mark the drive shaft. Now, while rotating the wheels one complete count how many times the driveshaft turns. This will be your approx. ratio. If it turns just a hair over 3 times its probably 3.08, just about a quarter under, it could be 2.73. If you have an open diff, double the times the number of driveshaft. So if you have a open diff and the drive shaft turns about 1.5 times then your ration would be about 3.08.
To find the different RPMs that your engine will turn, go to this site and enter in your information. http://sura1.jlab.org/~grippo/rpmmph.html
If you don't know how to find tire diameter, click here - http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi
Good luck!

In order to figure out what RPM the engine will turn with a given gear ratio you also need to post tire heigth.
