What is the advantage of one over the other on a 70 malibu with either a 307 or a 350

you can get alot more performance out of the 350, as well as availability of aftermarket pieces. Also the 307 was/is not a performance engine. Just my 1/50th of a $1.

If you're talking about an electric choke vs mechanical on a 307 or 350 (I've never seen an electric carb on a Malibu) there is little diference except that the electric choke will pull the choke open in about 30 seconds, the time it takes to heat the electric coil, so as soon as you kick it down it's at standard idle. A heat contolled choke can be kicked down to a lower, but still choked, RPM until the car warms up because it takes longer to warm up. Some aftermarker intakes won't allow the use of a heat riser so electric is the only good option. If this doesn't answer your question perhaps you can state it more clearly.

Good luck.

70chevelle,

They're referring to the choke mechanism. Get the electric one, it's a lot easier to deal with.

I second the electric. Got one on my Holley 750. works great.
