i mounted 6x9s under the rear shelf in my 68. i built boxes out of 1/2" particle board and covered with the same material as my seats, headliner and door panels. they look nice and sound good. i could sketch out some plans if you like what you see.

I mounted mine similar to derek. Except I used 1/2" plywood about 10" wide. It hangs from the lip of the rear shelf and extends acrossed the car. I mounted 2 6x9's in it. I took some pictures of the speakers (along with pix of my disc brake swap ) last week. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif Just picked them up today. The whole ENTIRE roll was blank http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif I don't have any idea what went wrong with the camera. I'm gonna try another roll tomorrow if the weather is nice. Will send you a picture if I remember.

i also just updated the speaker boxes today. used to have the fronts held on with cabinet clasps but figured out that with speakers mounted that they fell off so i put hinges on one side and the clasps on the other. counter sunk the hing pin and covered it with fabric so it looks real slick and makes a nifty hiding spot.
