I need to paint the hard plastic on the front dash of my '70. What kind of paint is good to paint this hard plastic. It is black, and I plan to keep it black. Any tips on how to go about doing this operation? What do you clean the dash with so the paint will adhere?

If you do a search, you'll find most people are partial to SEM products. They sell cleaner, a plastic prep (and a vinyl prep, be sure to use the one for plastic) and paints. I did my dash in landau black with SEM and it came out great.

I used the SEM prep products and color dies from one of the resto places to match my light blue interior - did kick panels, window crank knobs, and just about everything else with it and was very pleased with the results.

I haven't seen it sold locally in any stores, you may have better luck. I ordered mine from Eastwood

I did mine in SEM Satin Black because I thought the Landau Black was a little too shiny. Not sure which is closer to factory, but I'm happy with the satin...

I did mine with the stuff from Year One based on a friend's recommendation. Like it was mentioned, you need to use the bonding agent to keep the paint from peeling off. Mine came out great!
