Greetings,
I ordered an exhaust crossover kit from summit racing. The instructions mention that the general consensus is to place the crossover as close to the headers as possible which to me would heat the trans pan and fluid. Should I have it just behind the crossmember? Where is your crossover?
Thanks,
Yuri

Spray your exhaust pipe with some paint, or i've heard of using a crayon too. Then start it up and the first place that the paint burns off is where you should put it.

Put it as close to the header collector but be realistic about being able to work on other things with it.
I put mine on behind the crossover and also installed 2 collector clamps back by the mufflers. This allows me to remove the whole section from the collectors back to the mufflers for future maintenance. Ever tried to pull a tranny with one of those directly below it?

Don't like 'um, don't use 'um, and I'm not convinced that the value or benefit on a street car is worth the grief of fighting it to gain access to the tranny and related components.
Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt don't use them.

What Gandalf says...
I had my pipes up for a couple of days and splashed soem paint on the pipes and where they stopped to burn is where I put the crossover. Maybe it was just my ZZ4 but I was surprised at how far back it was. There is pic's on my website under "The End" section.
