does anyone know if 70-72 came with 3 point seat belts from the factory?

Joe, on our '71 it originally had a kind of psuedo-3point system. I believe that '71 was the first year for this, but some of the '70 guys can correct me if I'm wrong. It had a shoulder belt, but it was a separate belt with it's own buckle. We ditched it in favor of a true 3-point aftermarket belt system, which we like a LOT better.

I like that seatbelt, the 73 maverick i restored to get me ready for the chevelle had them. My 72 has the lap part but i need the sholder strap and mounting hardware, the people that redid the interior before i bought it had removed them. if anyone has them id be interested in picking them up.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PICS OF HOW THEY ARE MOUNTED ON THE QUARTER PANEL? I ACTUALLY HAVE A HARDTOP AND WANT TO PUT 3 POINT BELTS IN IT BUT DONT WANT THEM TO GO TO THE MOUNTS ON THE ROOF.

I'd like to see pictures of that. My 71 only has lap belts front and back.

My 70 Elky has the separate third leg. ;)

I'll be looking forward to a post with instructions, unless of course I wind up posting it myself.

For all those "hardtop" owners, here's my solution to installing a 3-point seatbelt system in my '72 SS:

They came from Andover Restraints http://www.andoauto.com/seat_belts.htm and only cost $144 for the set of two. They bolted in with NO mods, and work great!
