(NOT TRANSMISSION TUNNEL)

Does the '69 4 speed console have a Console Tunnel? The Ground Up catalog shows it for '68-72(the best I can tell, pg 91 in 2003 catalog, Item #NJ-1105. The YearOne catalog shows it for only the '70-'72 with a slider plate being used on '68-69.

It is a plastic piece between floor (actually the shifter boot/ring) and the console.

Does the '69 have this Console Tunnel?

Any thoughts?

I purchased this same part several years ago during my resto, (69'SS396-4 SPD).I bought a complete 4spd console kit from OPG as it was being developed. I believe I purchased that piece seperate. I played with that piece for a couple of hours and could not figure out how it should attach or if it even belonged in there. This piece is not shown in the factory assembly manual. So I believe it is not correct :confused: for 69'. As far as other years you would need to check the factory assy man for those years.

My car drives perfectly and shifts perfectly. I it does not belong on a 69'. And there is no place to install it on a 69'. Send it back. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thankfully I didn't order the tunnel. I DID order the slider panel.

Does THAT (slider) fit in the console correctly?

The slider does fit corectly. However if you have a factory assembly manual you would see that it shows a second piece to the slider-center around the shifter handle. No one makes this piece that I know of. Made my own out of black plastic. The big piece slides forward and back. The small piece I mentioned slides from side to side.

When you install the slider be sure to check bottom side of console where it slides for any rough edges or points. These will scratch to top of the slider as it slides forward and back. Dress them up so your slider will continue looking new after use. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
