The dash is bolted in place. The top part that the dash pad is mounted on is welded.

Your best bet is a junk yard or place that parts out chevelles. Try Sloans (760-949-6724). Tell him the guy with the funny power steering sent you.
the dash is held in by 4 bolts (2 on each side) on the bottom near the edges. There are two screws on each side about half way up the glove box and speedometer. There are several screws going up into the pad. Finally there are three support rods. One by the heater and two by the column. They have nuts and bolts that hold them to the bottom of the dash. You have to drop the steering column to get the dash out. Thats the hard part.
I have an extra dash from a 67 Malibu that might fit. Its not pefect, but may work.

You are not alone, I have the same problem that I am currently trying to repair. Here is what I have found out to date.
The information as mentioned above is correct, the whole dash bolts in. It is not an easy job, because along with the bolts are the heater cables and your wiring harness, just make sure you have time and patience.
I have been told that a 67 dash will not fit into a 66. That was good enough for me not to want and try the investment. I bought a AC dash, complete, $80.00 off a junk car, Took it off myself. Thought I might as well put AC in my car! There is a lot more to it than just the dash so make sure you have the dash and all the parts. I decided not to go with the AC and sold it on this web site.
Not all guys know about the dash being bolted in. Some people who advertise a parts car, when ask about the condition of the dash will only think of the dash pad? So you have to be specific.
Lastly, shipping, if you find someone, and they'll shipp it,it needs a big box. UPS will come to there door and pick it up. To ship the AC I had it only cost $16.00 from MD to IN.
Good luck, hope you find what you need.

Correct me if im wrong, but the part that the radio goes in is part of the dash panel that screws in place. (whole face of dash)
I have an extra one from my SS with AC. (has one dent)
Unless El Camino's were different.
