I am assuming you are adding a manual shift hump to an automatic tunnel. There are probably some guys out there who can provide precise measurements fore and aft from a static point on the floorboards, but in lieu of that you might try this approach...
After removing the carpet, find the point on the tunnel where the hump seems to want to fit naturally, and trace the outline of the hump onto the tunnel. Now draw another contour line inside the humps outline by a good three inches or so and make your cut on that line. Test fit the shifter and check clearance. Adjust the opening as necessary, but don't cut outside you original outline.
I recently removed the bench seat hump from my car and replaced it with a console hump. I found that the factory had spot welded the original hump onto the tunnel with an overlap of 1.5 to 2.0 inches all the way around, so there is some room to play with here. Just don't cut outside the humps outline.
I know this is kind of a hit and miss proposition and your best bet is to get accurate measurements from someone who has them, but it seems to me you can make it work per the above as well.
Good luck,
Patrick
