Is there much difference in appearance between the repro and GM wheel well moldings for a '69? Most suppliers seem to have both and the repros are quite a bit less $. von

Repro's do not hold up very well. I bought mine 5 months ago and already have to replace it. It is wise to get the original they hold up a little better.

repros DO NOT FIT! I have two for the front of my 67. The holes don't line up, they are not bent right. I will have to drill new holes to make them go on. Also the quality of the annondizing is not as good. The screws that came with mine were so soft they stripped as I tried to put them in. When it come to trim, spend the bucks. Skimp on stuff you can't see. Drop me a line if you need a good trim restoration guy.

The only good a repro wheel well molding will do if you have repro fenders. Trying to put GM wheel well molding on repro fenders doesn't fit either, I found out the hard way one of my rear quarter panels was repro and it was the only one my brand new GM wheel well molding didn't fit right. Just goes to show..You get what you pay for! Stay with the genuine article if they still make it and only resort to repro. if it's the only way to get the part.

I have two chevelles right now and I have repros on one and orig GM's on the other. Can't tell much difference between the two. They both fit only fair and the screws for both were not very good quality. I used stainless screws instead. The repro's were cheaper so i went with those first, but the second time the repros were on backorder, so i bought GM's and they were nearly Identical. perhaps they found the original manufacturer for GM?
