: Custom center consol, how 'bout these apples?
BB_Mike Mar 19th, 01, 6:08 PM I've done some searching and brought it up in the past. My situation is this: AFter market bucket seats for side to side stability. This gives me a tad bit more room than the stock setup. Also I use a megashifter from B&M.
I wont pay all the $$ for stock looking consol just to hack it up.
any ideas similiar to this are VERY welcome I'm all ears!

What other years/cars would this be common to? Is this a 3rd gen camaro??

elky72ss454 Mar 19th, 01, 6:37 PM Hey Mikeie, I can pee-pee in front of my grannies six banger ford and roast the tires too...LOL...Show me some thing!... Big block Chevy and you need all that liquid to light em up? I'd be embarrased if I were you...LOL....C-mon man show me something... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
BB_Mike Mar 19th, 01, 6:51 PM While you don't merit a response, I must correct your assumptions. That burnout was done for picture purposes only. I can break the tires loose from a 20mph role. I run a radial street tire and always avoid the water alltogether. If your computer isn't to slow, down load the video, maybe that will satisfy your taste-buds?
drptop70ss Mar 19th, 01, 7:41 PM If you want one of those camaro consoles just hit a junkyard or swap meet, they are a $20 item. Absolutely worthless, they are dirt cheap at meets. B/M makes a megashifter plate to fit the console, if you get that you can use your shifter in the camaro console and make it look factory. The console is pretty much the same 73-81, 82-92 is a different animal.

BB_Mike Mar 19th, 01, 9:07 PM Dave. You Da Man. I've been searching my eyeballs out trying to figure those years out... AS for swap meets. I don't know of any localy but I'll let my fingers do the walking tomorrow http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
Steve R Mar 19th, 01, 9:50 PM The only problem with the $20 consoles is that they are messed up. Cigarette holes and rips are very common, if not the norm, expect to pay more for one in good shape. However they do look nice.

red2rider Mar 20th, 01, 6:47 AM Hey mike the trans am and firebird consoles are the same too, from 70-81 this might widen the search for ya. Randyb.
John_R Mar 20th, 01, 8:51 AM Also, don't forget that some of them came with Power Windows, so you'll have a "hole" there (shown in pic)...
Another problem with those consoles is the door...hinge breaks very easily...But, should be an easy fix...Try a part of an inner tube with some rubber cement...of course, do it cleanly http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif...should do the trick...
I say, Go for it! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
eDave Mar 20th, 01, 5:20 PM Do any of these years come with cup holders? My car is a daily driver and cup holders are kinda high on my list of things for a custom console.
I also like the slot where the console meets the dash. Is this DIN sized and anyone know how deep it is? I guess I need to head to the junkyard.

drptop70ss Mar 20th, 01, 5:31 PM Nope, no cupholders http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif but the area on the console under the dash is deep enough to hold a stereo if you make some sort of face plate for it. You want the 73-81 console, the 70-72 is different (and worth more if you happen to find one in good shape, I have one but want a nicer one for my 71 camaro). If you dont need a ratchet shifter, the camaro floor shifter is also a nice piece.

Chevello Mar 21st, 01, 4:58 AM If you happen to have one of those steering wheels handy, email it to me http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
I'z gonna need one to avoid "Mom's Car feel" in the 64.
