: Restoration packs-what's up with them?
mr409 Oct 29th, 99, 1:28 PM I just tried to get a restoration pack by calling the GM number that was mentioned here a while back. (1-800-222-1020).
I got a recording and had to push certain buttons until I finally got a "human". The lady I talked seemed a little unsure of what I was looking for and to told me I would have to call a local dealer. So I did that and they didn't even know what I was talking about.
Now I know some of you here got this information sucessfully. Could you tell me your secret? Did you have to guess the sales persons mother's maiden name or what?
Confused...

66 bowtie Oct 29th, 99, 1:48 PM well 4 canadian made cars you have to talk to the people in the Vintage Department.
when i mailled gmcanada they replied with this
"Your request can be processed through our Vintage Department.
The information will be provided on a research basis
and will include all available information such as:
option content, selling dealer, original paint and
trim, production/shipping date, production plant,
engine number, quantities of the model produced/sold
in Canada, and copies of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers
specifications or sales data as available. The
information that is available depends on the year of

72CHEVELLE Oct 29th, 99, 2:19 PM I went through the same mess you did, Bob. All I did was asked the customer service rep to connect me to someone who may be more knowledgable about my request. I finally got connected to some guy who knew exactly what I was talking about and that was that. Sure, it takes a while, but its well worth the trouble. Good luck!

Doug Garland Oct 29th, 99, 2:52 PM I ordered one about 1 1/2 months ago, and called last week to check on it. I talked to a girl named Tracy, she knew all about them, and said I should see it either the end of this week, or next week for sure. She gave me a date of 11/10/99, and said if I didn't have it by then, to call back.I received a file # and everything. She said they take 6-8 weeks to make it out to your house.I just asked for a Restoration Package for my car, they took down all the info.Maybe I will have it next week.Oh yeah,Bob, my ' 72 I had looked like yours, off white interior(parchment) w/307-2 bbl.

mr409 Oct 29th, 99, 4:03 PM Thanks guys.
I will just have to try again. I'll have to ask for the head honcho this time. The things we do for our Chevy's!
I forgot to ask earlier, is this available for Impala's too? I have a '63 I wouldn't mind researching.
Doug,
Looks like we have the same taste in vehicles. Not only the Chevelle's but even our trucks, except mines a '69 (same difference). In my opinion, the 69 and 70 Chevy trucks were the best looking trucks ever made. And built like a brick $@!) house too! "Like a ROCK".

Doug Garland Oct 29th, 99, 4:27 PM Yeah, I have a ' 69 1 Ton truck, a ' 70 C/10, and a ' 72 Malibu. All need some work, but they're a start. My ' 72 is Pewter Silver w/black vinyl, and black interior. It is more or less a roller at this time. The clip is pulled, but is still a solid car.Just waiting to put it in my new shop, and start work.

elcamino72 Oct 29th, 99, 4:34 PM Yeah, you called the right place. My father even got one for his '59 Pick-up. That one has been about the most usfull. It gave us the correct dimensions for the front inner wheel bearings. The local parts store gave us the wrong ones twice, with this info we were able to get the correct bearings. They can be very useful, the one for my 72 elky gives options and pricing along w/ spec. and weights.
