I am planing on running my chevelle this weekend at the sacramento raceway
I was wondering if most tracks inforce all NHRA rules for even test and tune?
like...
I have my battery in the trunk, without a rearfire wall(does the backseat count http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif , I also dont have a externally mounted battery kill switch or the mattery box bolted to the frame(ive got bif washers holding it to the trunk floor.
what about the rule that you cant hae more than 12inches of rubber fuel line?
ive got maybe 20 inches. and a glass fuel filter.

so am I gonna be told to go home? I know its not that hard to fix all this stuff. but it works fine now and all that would be a pain in the ass.

If this is your first time at this track and you look like a newbie (and it's a test and tune night, so just about anything goes), the most you will likely get is instructions on how to be "legal" next time you come to the track. At worst, and this is an unlikely scenario, you may have to park your car. But at least you'd get to watch other racers and maybe pick up a few pointers. I wouldn't consider it a wasted Saturday night.

I raced several weekends in a row with too much rubber fuel line before I got around to replacing it. I recently moved my battery into the trunk and still haven't found just the right master kill switch to bolt beneath my bumper....I haven't been stopped from racing yet. I had been wondering about that fire wall deal. what do you buy to have a fire wall, is it a metal peice?
1 more question. A master kill switch under the bumper? what class is that in. no way someone with a street/strip car will have that under a bumper where anyone can screw with it. i don't have a nhra rule book, should get 1 i guess

I have my battery in the trunk with the switch mounted under the bumper. People always say "Cant someone just go mess with it?" Well no one has yet, and maybe some joker will just turn it off. Big deal, walk around the car and turn it back on.

How about a driveshaft loop? Do you have an approved helment? How about a puke can for the radiator?

You need to get the rule book for whatever rules your track operates under, NHRA or IHRA, and try to make your car safe.

But as the earlier post said, it won't make much difference, local tech at a local track on test and tune, you could strap the motor in with rubber bands and it would pass tech!

Yeah, you need to get a rule book. I found this out today. Put the 67 on stands, crawled under and saw that putting a DS loop in was not going be as easy as I hoped. Got out the rule book and saw that cars running 13.99 or quicker need the loop unless they are using street tires. I'm using Drag Radials so no loop required http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif. Won't need the loop until I hit 12.99. Somethings you should do are plug any holes in the fire wall, put on dual throttle return springs, and add a puke can or recovery jug (I don't think they will let you run without some way of catching radiator overflow, even a soda can will work). These are easy and you won't have to do them before the next race.

Yeah, the loop on my '66 was a real pain to do, but I figure even though I dont use full slicks, its better to be safe than sorry. Also, ALWAYS wear a helmet when you race no matter how slow your car may be.
