I had asked a tire shop manager for the old wax pens to re-white my tire letters. He suggested finding a very flat palm sized river rock, and while running water over the tire, rub the white letters and they will come clean...IT WORKS! graemlins/hurray.gif

Good tip. Hard bristle tooth brushes and Comet works like a charm too.

I have tried all types of cleaners and have found Spray "9" with a hard bristle brush really brings up the white letters.

Simple Green and a regular tire brush/floor scrubber...

Works wonders for cleaning up all 14 letters of Mr. Thompson's name that just happens to be plastered all over my sidewalls....;) Using it for years...the tires still look brand new....

P.S. those wax pencils tend to get kinda messy...especially when you leave em in the sun...

Brillo or S.O.S. pads work good too =)

Used the "rock" method for years on my lifted 4x4 truck tires. It dose work very well.

Back in the 80's when I left the white letters out, I found that Wesley's Bleach White worked great. I still use it to clean up black wall tires with a stiff-bristled brush, works great!
