Here's a trick that's worked for me concerning header paint. Use the good VHT, with the proper cleaning routine, either carb cleaner, or a wax/grease remover.
LET IT DRY COMPLETELY, THIS STUFF IS FLAMMABLE!
Apply several (4-5) light coats of paint to build the coverage. Let it dry a day or two. Here's the trick.
Hang the headers on some welding rod or unbent coat hangers from the rafters.
Take a propane or Mapp gas torch (lit http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif)and stick it in the collector. Move it around inside to each "tube", until the air coming out of the other end is hot and you can smell the stinky paint. Quit for awhile, let it cool, and repeat about 4 -6 times. Then give each tube a shot from the cylinder head end a few times. This'll cure the paint slowly, with nowhere near the intense initial heat (that usually burns off the paint) from curing them on the car. I've done this on several installs, and the paint looks like new today.

Or, just throw 'em in the oven when the wife ain't home. Like chicken, 'bout 350 for an hour should do it...

Cheers,
mark.
