I helped a buddy install a GM 350HO Deluxe this past summer....I guess we were lucky because the only Holley carb. adjustment we made was to the fast idle screw when we broke in the engine. He made a slight float adjustment a few days later. The carb. seemed (at least this unit) to be factory set. ??

thanks for your reply black72. i am new to carbs and i did adjust the floats until the fuel level was just below the sight opening on the side. i got this info from the holley website, since i made this adjustment the engine is backfiring almost constantly (only while in gear though) and the power is gone. i'm thinking that i am overloading with fuel now.

was the car on level ground when you adjusted the float. Make sure that the carb is actually level, as the motor is slightly tilted. jack up the back end a little until the carb is level, then set the float to where fuel only spills out when you shake the car. Too high a float setting will make it rich and too little will make it lean. hope this helps
