Has anyone else ran into this problem? I have a 66 chevelle 2-door hardtop and it has a hole in the frame under the driver side fender. Can this be safetly fixed? How? Must be safe as my kids will be in the car, too! Any info or experience helpful.
I would take it to a good welder and let him look at it. That is a common place for them to rust.Have him check out the whole frame. Also check around where the steering box bolts go into the frame as this is a collecting place for dirt and water.

I had the same problem on my 65 on the passenger side. Cleaned all the rust off, had a welder box the frame where the rust was, then painted the area with por 15. That was about 10 years ago, and I have not had a problem since.

Be sure to check around all of the body mounts as well. This is also a common place for rust to attack your frame. Sometimes it's hard to see with the body mounts in the way but the holes will enlarge and the metal will thin out due to rust. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif
Have the entire frame checked.
