: No transmission stand?...Dont worry!

About a month ago I changed the transmission in my truck from a 700-R4 to a TH350. Before putting the 350 in the truck, I wanted to put a shift kit in it and change the filter. I figured it would be easier to do if I did it while it was out of the truck. The problem with this was that You just can't balance a transmission on a table while it is upside down...The answer...Use a wheel-barrel (sp?). Turn the transmission upside down, place the big end (where the torque convertor is) in the wheel barrel (lengthwise) , then let the yoke rest on the edge of it. It works great, also catches all fluid and any dropped parts! You can brace it on the sides with 2x4's so it doesn't move around. Hope this helps some of you.

Or you can just bolt it to an engine stand...sorry, had to add it.
