What would any of you reccomend on books to help my 72 350 perform better. I am trying to learn so it would have to be a dummies guide.

You don't need no stinkin books! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif Post your questions in the engine/drivetrain or performance forums . Those guys are always tryin to show how smart they are http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif .

You can ask them about the books too. In the past they've recommended a bunch of good ones.
But no foolin the folks who hang out in those two forums are really forgiving of newby type questions. Give it a try. They won't embarrass you.

I strongly disagree with Rick. Team members may be well intentioned, but of doubtful experience. Just because my car runs xxx mph, doesn't mean I know why. We usually have knowledge limited to products we have, and more ofter than not, never admit we overpaid, or that some other clod had as good of heads.
I suggest you start your reading Lingenfelter's book, "Building Small Block Chevrolet engines" or somesuch. It discusses a lot about everything, including theory, heads, exhaust, and doesn't shamelessly tout his products, as you normally find. Its cheap and usually availably at Booksamillionand similiar.
