I have an LS-6 with an MSD distributor. I replaced the intake gaskets, now it seems that the distributor bottoms out on the oil pump just before it makes contact with the gasket. Could the intake gaskets be thinner than the old ones? I noticed that the gasket that was on the distributor when I removed it was thicker than normal. Is this a common problem? What should I do?

How large is the space? are you sure its not the oil pump shaft misaligned with the hole in the distributor? try installing the dist. a few teeth off and see if it seats, or turn the oil pump with a large screw driver

It's not a missalignment problem, I need about .030" more gasket thickness. I just have'nt had this problem before, Im just not used to shimming the dist., but I never had an after market distributor before. I'll look into those spacers, thanks!
