My headliner's in sad shape& I'm going to have to replace it. Does anyone know of an outfit that makes the kind of headliner "board" that you could just pop into place? I've got an 88 Pontiac that has this kind of thing which is where I got the idea. If newer cars are doing this I would hope somebody has picked up on it for muscle car nuts like us. Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't know of anybody that makes a hard headliner like you're talking about for older cars that didn't come with that style headliner to begin with. But there are a ton of places that make reproduction suspended headliners like the one you have in your car now. I know the hard type headliners are easier to work with, and they are probably cheaper, but bite the bullet and get the one that's supposed to go in your car. You'll be glad you did when it's all said and done.

My '69 still has the original bow type headliner-still looks great, but I've seen countless board type headliners polishing the heads of all the occupants even after only 6 or 7 years (less in the sunbelt). Go with the original, the only reason GM and all the other carmakers stopped using the sewn style after 60 some odd years was because it cost them less.
