I've got a 69 Malibu that has had the original lap and shoulder belts removed, and replaced with lap only belts. As I remember, the '68 & 69's came with lap belts that you could hook the shoulder belts into or leave them stowed if you didn't want to use them. Does anyone know of replacement (factory or aftermarket) lap/shoulder belts that work in the old cars, using the original mounting points?
Mine is a bench seat model, with standard lap belt mounting points on the floor and one shoulder belt mounting point on the headliner above the rear windows.

Why not just get original belts ?? They are still available (though not in great numbers) from salvage yards. Go for the '72 models that join the lap and shoulder belts for convenience.

For 68 thru 70 (and 71?), there are seperate belts for the lap and shoulder that anchor to the same bolt in the floor, so your lap belt could possibly be original, and just the shoulder parts were removed. I would think that for a bench seat car you would have 5 belts with buckles coming out of your seat. My 68 with buckets has two on each side of the console ( for a total of 4), with a tongue on each side of the console to stow the buckle portion of the shoulder belt when not used, while the roof mounted portion has a couple of clips mounted up there to stow that section.

Ssnake-Oyl restores seat belts that you would provide. According to the webpage http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/ you can also purchase sets from them without providing a core. Hope this helps.
