: Where to wire gauges?

When I bought my Chevelle, the guy had installed after market gauges. Ampmeter, positive pressure (tube) not electric oil pressure gauge, temp, and vacuum. He had the gauges (and light) wired directly to the battery for constant power I suppose. Now the light is burned out and the gauges being hot all the time drains the battery down. Where is a good place to hook up the power for both the gauges and seperately the light so it will come on with the dash lights?

Gabulldog,

You should of posted this question in the Chevelle Tech forum, this section is for tips & fixes that you want to share with others.

Now, to answer your question, since I am wiring in new gauges at the time and cleaning up all the loose wires under the dash, you want to wire the lights to the gauges to the LPS connector on your fuse block and wire the ampmeter to the IGN on the fuse block. It is better to use the power from the fuse block and not directly connected to the battery or run it through a fuse and then to the battery if you don't want your chevelle to go up in flames if your gauges short out.
