Hello, I have a ground-up restored 69 SS CHEVELLE. I live in southern Maine,my garage is not heated, what is the SAFEST way to store my pride and joy for a couple of years while I finish my current project? I have heard except for new oil, drain all fluids, etc. I am more concerned about the sheet metal and keeping moisture off. Is it possible to stop condensation when we have those warm winter days without heat in the garage? Please HELP! I cannot get the car in the house. Mike Ross

Seems like that condensation is a problem when the doors are opened and the inside temp changes quickly. Cold metal, warm moist air. There is an oil compound that is sprayed into the carb while the engine is running that will coat the cylinders for storage. Fogging oil? Be a good idea as the rings can stick.
Storage is hard on stuff, seems like. tom

My case might be unusual but I stored my 71 in an unheated garage in maryland for 4 years while I was station overseas. I literally drove it in, jacked it up and walked away.
The car sat untouched for over 4 years. When I pulled it out of storage I had to drain and refill the gas tank and the rest of the fluids. I put in a new battery and the darn thing started right up. I had no additional metal deterioration and the car proceded to be my daily driver for the next 6 months.
Make sure you do something to preserve the fuel system. jack the car up so you dont flat spot your tires. WD-40 can work wonders in your cylinders and other places and put a cover on it.
