I have a 69 Malibu with the stock hood, last summer I bought a 68 SS hood. at the time I did not know that the hinges on the 68 and 69 were different. After looking for several weeks for 68 hinges and not finding any, I took my original 69 hinges to work and machined a new slot that matches the 68 hood. as far as I know there is no difference between malibu and SS hinges

I installed a 69 SS hood on my 69 Malibu, bolted right up and adjusted fine. All 69 hood hinges are the same, but are different from the 68 hood and hinges by the distance between the mounting holes on the hood. I hope this helps.

I have a 68 Malibu with an SS hood i heard there is no diff and they are interchangable between a 68 and 69.
Mine is an original hood and bolted right up and aligned just fine

A 68 hood will inerchange onto a 69 like you thought, but only if you use the 68 hinges also on the 69 because of the bolt pattern difference outlined by Jim(DocJ) above.
Concrete- All 69s used the same hinges 6cyl to a 375hp/396.
