View Full Version : For nitrous users.

I fill my own nitrous bottles and most of the time all at once (5 bottles). One thing I noticed is some would lose as much as two pounds in weight after sitting on the self over a period of time.
I always check to make sure the valve is not leaking on the bottle after I fill it by holding my thumb over the hole. Sometimes I have to crack the valve open then shut it real fast to get it to seat, with my thumb out of the way of course.
So what I have started doing is stretching a ballon over the valve opening. Now when I look up on the shelf and I see a ballon starting to inflate I know I have a slow leaker.

Great tip!! I'll have to use that on my Co2 bottles. Its a pain to be at the track and reach for the spare bottle and its empty http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

I assume you are talking Co2 for your shifter. What are the advantages of Co2 over electric shifters? Or is it all a matter of opinion? Would appreciate any feed back.

Its for the Throttle Stop & Shifter.
Just a matter of opinion I guess. They both seem to do the job. And since most guys run the powerglide , theres only one shift that happens in a fraction of a second. I guess the electric would be less weight.

elctric shifters are not affected by temp or altitude. They are sensitive to the charge state of the battery. A race car that is not running an alternator needs to make SURE the batteries are FULLY charged before every round.
