My son and I have been restoring a 1969 Chevelle Malibu. One of the problems we've be stuck on is the wippers will not recline under the hood once they are turned off. This started one day during the rain and the wippers would not shut-off right away then when they did stop they never lowered under the hood. I have replace the switch, this didn't help. Any idea's.

I think the circuitry for the wiper park is in the wiper motor itself. You might check the wiring going to it, make sure its clean and tight. Also do a search of this sight for wipers.. I think the same question was asked a few weeks ago. Good luck with it.
PS-if you replace the motor, make sure you get the correct one. The motor for hidden wipers is "different".

Rick gave you good advice to search the site for wiper topics. Remember reading something similar a week or so ago. The responses said that the GROUND for the park position is different from the ground to make the wipers go. I think the wipers get their ground thru the wiring but the park feature gets it from the firewall. Check for the other posts and your grounds.
Good luck,
Bill

Thanks Rick and Bill, I will check the wiring thoroughly since it won't cost much and if all goes back I will replace the wipper motor. Tom

I have the same problem but only the passenger side wiper won't park, the driver's side wiper parks and hides nicely under the hood. Looks kind of wierd with one wiper out and one in. I checked all the wiring and connections and they seem clean. Any suggestions?

If only one parks, I would guess that the one that does not park is either installed in the wrong position, or the linkage is badly worn.
It is not an electrical problem.
Remove the one that doesn't park, and check for sloppiness or looseness of the round serrated piece that it mounts on. If that is tight, reinstall it in the parked position while the other one is also in the parked position.
