I've got a 65 Malibu with the standard gauge package but have bought a SS gauge package at a swap meet. Does anyone know if I can use the existing wiring to hook up the oil/battery/temp gauge cluster, instead of the warning lights? Or, should I separately wire the cluster? Also, what sending unit should be installed for the oil pressure gauge. The engine now has a warning light sending unit. Same question for the water temp.
Thanks!

Hey Gary,
My 65 SS has gauges and I have a wiring diagram! I'll check it and see, I do believe there is a difference between the harnesses but don't let that stop you from putting in the gauges. The oil pressure gauge is mechanical so just run a 1/8" tube to the pressure tap at the back of the block located to the drivers side of the dist. I think The temp sending unit is still available in the after market (check your local NAPA store)so get one of those and use the stock wire. You need to check the new unit to see if it is calibrated correctly (been there done that let me know when you're ready) The amp meter is where the difference probably is. Give me a fax or snail mail address and I'll copy that portion of the wiring diagram for you.

Manny, thanks for your response. I neglected to advise that the 350 engine is from a 79 van, if that makes a difference. My fax # is 781-386-1930. Let me know when you will send something if possible, because the fax is not near me and is shared with a group of people. Thanks again!
