Tomorrow I am re-gasketing my Performer manifold on a SBC. I heve never figured out how to get a torque wrench to work on the center 4 bolts on an intake. In the past I just use a box wrench and make a best guess at the torque. Any tips on a better way.

Pat,
I have used a torque wrench with a flex type socket but I do not think it is that accurate. Most of the time we do it with a wrench. If you work your way out from the middle bolts a little at a time, and use the torque wrench on the end ones, you can put the wrench on the ones you have torqued and get a good idea as to how hard you have to pull to get them to move, then use that "feel" to finish tightening the center ones.

Thanks Bill
That is the way I did it in the past. I guess it's the best way.
Thanks,
Pat

You can use a crows foot looks like a spanner with a square for use with a ratchet or torque wrench. But the box end guess method is just as good.Easier on the knuckles too...FRED

Ive always used a universal joint to get to those hard to reach bolts. It provides an acurate torqe reading. Works fine

a little "GeeWhiz" info, there is a wrench
known in the Aviation world as a "dog-bone"
wrench. Box-end,approx. 2in.long with a 3/8
drive hole on the other end. Snap-On etc.
You would have to use the formula for adding
to a torque wrench is all.

A liitle more GEE WIZ. You can get a wobbly extension from craftman snap-on ect. This little tool available in as many lengths as reg. extensions is an excellent addition to any tool box. When you buy a set you will wonder why you never had them before, they are great for many other things. They do not deflect enough to alter your torque reading either.

Thanks for the ideas. You never know, asking just might bring a good answer.
