Any one know exactly what the purpose of this flap that attaches to rear of bed and overhangs the area between the bed end and bumper?
Anyones life been the same since omitting this rubber flap from their resto or did it just result in a huge "flap"?

Hi
On my 77 Elky the flaps hide all the iron works to the bumper. I found some decent flaps and painted them but now they are so stiff the bumper assy. has to be dropped to put them on

When I did my '72, the flap was pretty well destroyed. Only thing I think it did was stop stuff from getting splashed up and getting everything all cruddy. Replaced mine with a heavy guage rubber...almost like an inner tube. It did keep the bed a bit cleaner.
