Only thing i wouldn't recommend would be stock rods with that much of a valve spring i don't know how long the stock rods will last. They are relativly cheap thats just my imput.

looks good to me. the only thing that i might question are the pistons. make sure that your machinist pays close attention to the directions on clearance and ring gap.

stock connecting rods not push rods that's covered, as for the rings they were put in already when i got the short block but i had to re-install 4 pistons (put in wrong) im just assuming they are correct.

Just something that caught my eye was the 600cfm carb. Its a bit on the small side if you're looking for top end, but it'd give you great torque/throttle response. One other question, Tranny, auto or manual and if auto what stall?

Well, you might want to get a little higher stall since your cam and intake aren't great for low end, not bad but you could match it up a little better. However, I know those OD tranny converters are expensive. Take that for what its worth.

i see your point and will rebuild this tranny next and wouldn't mind a ligher stall but i really need the lock-up for all the highway i drive (100mi/day) that's still on my list (another $800 too)

You are pretty close to what my 355 sb is. Mine dynoed 385hp 5400 430 ft.lbs. 3800 mild porting, cam 4 degrees advanced, 194-150 valves, I built it as a torquer. One pull to 6000 netted 420hp.My converter is 2200 rpm fine for the street.I have never hit the rev limiter yet which is always set 5400.Can't afford the tickets and I hate walking...FRED

Fred thanks i needed that i was worring about only getting 325hp or so out of it, and im thinking with these open heads it should really come alive at the upper rpm (carb pending)

any recamendation on head gaskets???? cheaper ones that will work

Did you deck the block? If not you could probably use like a thin Fel Pro metal gasket since you shaved those heads (recently I assume). That could get you some more CR if you want, if not just get a standard size.
