I have the 14" original wheels on the SS and want to make them and the tires 18" tall to lower my RPMs.
I have 235/60's on there now.
What are the tallest tires availible with the correct white lettering on them?
Are they at least better made than back then?

Your best bet at finding a taller tire would be with 15" rims. When you go with larger diameter rim you tend to wind up with a shorter sidewall, thus you gain very little in overall height. If you go to a shop that sells tires they can show a chart that shows tire heights. That should answer any questions you have. You might be able to find a chart on a tire manufacturers web site too.

Do you mean 28" tall? My stock SS wheels with 60s are 24" tall. To get 28" I would say go with a 15" rim. I believe 15s with 27560s were around 28", but I dont have them anymore so cant measure to be sure. I am running 3:31s, which seem to be good with the 14s, but still am considering overdrive.
