: How to find the cam spec's of a 1986 Corvette motor (L98)

My Brother has decided that he trusts me enough to build a new motor for his 1986 Corvette convertable (fool that he is).

The car has a 1986 350 TPI motor, with aluminum heads. I believe it's 330hp, and is an L98 motor. The question is: How do I find out what the spec's are on the cam? I would like to put a bigger cam in the car, but will need a starting point.

Another question would be: What is the largest cam I can use without screwing up the stock computer chip? Do I have to put a high performance chip in the car if I switch cam's at all?

Forgive the Corvette questions here. I do own a Chevelle http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Call the cam manufacturer of your choice. The customer service people are very knowledgeable and can make specific recommendations about what is/is not compatible.

86 L-98 is more like 245 HP, not until the GM brought back the LT-1 in 92 did the hp go back to 300.
