I am getting conflicting information. Half the people I talk to tell me that the rear defogger in 1970 had a metal grill. The other half say they could be either metal or plastic. Please Help!

Mine is metal

The one I have, which is factory from what I can tell, has a plastic grill. I have another one which is NOS on my workbench, it is plastic also. While I was calling around, I talked to Sundell auto in slippery rock, pa. They just asked me if I wanted metal or plastic, think both were made. If you do have the plastic grill I can tell you be real careful when removing or installing, they are very fragile!

'70 was metal, '71&up were plastic. This is true for the blower housing also. If you look at the rear deck in a '70, you'll notice that there are only 3 holes for the grille, not 4 like in '71 & later years.

Mine is factory and both pieces are metal.Usually a person telling you the 70 was plastic,is the person that wants to sell it to you.Just like the white numbered 71-72 SS Gauges they'll say:"But they're from a 70".
