I'm sure this has been covered before. The drop base obstructs the accelerator pump and it's arm. With a little "massaging" it can work. I noticed this when I first installed it. Gotta have that 3" K&N on there! Bet you Holley's don't have that problem.

Advance Auto Parts in my area have a spacer that works just fine. Costs about seven bucks. Just put one on my Q-jet powered 350. Its plastic and has lasted for a week,so far. Solved my problem with no hood clearance problems.

Where any of the previous on a Big Block motor? I need to get another air cleaner (drop base) soon and want to make sure a 3" can fit with a STOCK malibu hood.

Thanks fellas

-Any pictures you guys might have would help! I have a fuel pressure regulator that may get in the way... but the HEI should be fine.

The spacer worked well for me. My first one lasted 3 years. I have a 1" on there now and it fits just right.

Honey, its not a $200 hat. The distributor was $200, the hat came with it. kevin d
