: How do I determine what time of day my car was built??
Shawn Nov 15th, 00, 3:38 PM I have my build sheet and I think it would be interesting to know what time of day my car got assembled or even what shift. In box 10 there is a 61 before the build date.
Also, does anyone know what day November 25 falls on in 1969?

Quadzilla Nov 15th, 00, 3:45 PM If I remember correctly they used the Julian Dating system, so just count the days and work it out.
With one of 3 shifts to choose form it was either after coffee, before some more coffee or right after a big jug'o'joe. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

SS_Sean Nov 15th, 00, 6:43 PM Shawn:
November 25th, 1969 fell on a Tuesday. Sad, but I still have a 1969 calender hanging on my wall http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

SS_Dave Nov 16th, 00, 9:55 AM OK, if it was AM there will be coffee stains under the seats somewhere. If it was around noon, mustard or ketchup stains on the headliner. If it was PM, there will be a 1/2"
box end wrench under the intake manifold. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

Quadzilla Nov 16th, 00, 10:28 AM '69 funny funny... I actually found a lunch order list under my back seat... funny funny.
The Julian System works like this, Jan 1 is 001 Jan 2 is 002, Jan 31 is 031, Feb 1 is 032. It is a sequential dating system from 001-356, the same way our cars are all sequentially numbered from #1 all the way up to those tens of thousands of 1970 LS6 Convertibles in Cranberry. Hiding somewhere in your paper and all the casting codes and what not should be some information pertaining to the Julian Date the car rolled off the line, the shift that produced it and the time. GM recorded all this information at some point as a means of tracking errors and production output. If say all the manifolds used during a specific shift were bad in some way they could look at the casting data say all the manifolds for this lot are bad and issue a company wide notice that those parts are ****e.
Whether or not this info still exists is a tough call. Base don the paperwork I’ve found I’d say my car was built on or about the AM shift of August 16th, 1970 in Arlington, TX. The am shift is based on the lunch list I found in the seat.

And if there were Coke bottle caps found. That means it was a day before a holiday and the were goofing off having bottle cap snapping wars.
Julian calendar is a consecutive count of days in the year. For 1969 you would see "69001" January 1, 1969. All the way to December 31 = "69365" Unless it is a leap year then it would be "69366"
Hope this helps
