This has nothing to do with my 'velle, but I just bought a 2000 Tiburon (first new car) and I want to find some parts to modify it with. I'm not wanting to change it much. It's pretty unique looking to begin with. I'm sure everyone that reads this will understand that I just have to make it "Mine".

I'm also wondering if anyone knows if there's a chip set I can use increase perfomance. It's a 140 Horse Hyundai 2.0 Liter 4-Cyl. engine. The govenor on this thing is driving me nuts. It's governed at 125mph at 5,000rpms and it doesn't redline till 6,500. At 4,000rpms it's doing 85mph! It seems to me that I oughta get alot more out of this baby, but knowledge of mechanics barely gets me by with my '67. Please tell me what you think about it.

Well from what I've seen of my GF's I recomend doing away with the AC and clearing up the air flow problem... take a good look at the air intake system, It's scary http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif
Next big step would to upgrade the guts of the tranny, even in "Performance mode" it's not as crisp as my dying Powerglide. To really lighten it up, relieve the introur and hatch of some of the "useless" carpet and plastic/foam trim bits; don't tear them out, be gentle. Once it's a bit lighter and breathing easier the next step would be a nice set of Dunlop or Perilli in a stick compound say the Perilli Formula S, they did a wonder for my sentra, @40#'s they kick ass and take names, very little slide or bucking. Also, have they clearde up that whole "no riders over 5'10"" problem, I'm 6' and only fit in the front seat layed back to 60*; I tried the back seat once and the Palisades Parkway(broken side walk with a 55 speed limit) got my head smacked on the hatch http://www.chevelles.com/forum/mad.gif

Wes>Spray it with what?

Quad>Thanks for the ideas. I'm not sure I can live woth all of them though. The a/c's gotta stay (I live in the South), and I don't wan't to rip out the carpet. I'm walking that tight performance/apperance line. I do need to look in to air flow though.

Pardon my ignorance but what the heck is a Tiburon ?? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif . Check with your dealer and see what performance options/pieces are available. Chevy dealers usually arry a catalog or 2(or3,4,5,) of different performance goodies. Is that car Front(wrong) wheel drive?.....Never I mind did a search. Spend your money on your chevelle IMHO.

The Tiburon is made by Hundai and is pretty fast for a(IMHO) not fast car. Comfy to drive with crisp handling and a nice punch when you get into it. good on gas and looks peppy. First order of business should be cleaning up the air intake and exhaust system. Next should be a nice 100hp shot of "The Fog".

If I bought a Hyundai I'd probably use the nitrous on myself http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif
Only kidding though. Spend your money on the Chevelle. No offense, but the Hyundai will never be worth more than you paid for it, even if you shrink wrapped it & put it in a time capsual.
Besides, if you think working on a Chevelle is difficult, wait 'till you get into the electronics of your Hyundai http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif
What shape is your Chevelle in? You'll find a ton of support on this web site http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Cardiac>What's all this talk about what it's worth? Surely your not in this for the money. You can't be. As investments go, cars are a sure loser, classic or not. That 'velle your so proud of being worth more, I'm sure upon closer inpection, is nothing but a money pit. Add the original price (adjusted for inflation), all restoration costs (including labor), the addded fuel cost, and the cost of maintaining an antiquated and inefficient piece of machinery, and then tell me how much it's worth. The bottom line is this: You, me, and everyone else on this site does this for a far greater reason than money. We do it for love. Besides that, why should I care what some blue book says my car is worth? It's worth what I say it is.

okay, I'm going to be the good guy here:

NO CAT FIGHTS OVER CHOICES!

that said; John, the Tiburon is a nice economic "go fast" and a great way to get around when the velle is on jack stands. Cardiac; yes a velle is a more worthy go fast, but not when it's on jack stands.

And, even if you put your velle into a plastic bubble when it was brand new, it still wouldn't be worth what you paid- adjusted for inflation and future value of money- And, who really cares what it's worth in cash, you can't drive cash!
