: 69 mirrors
mjl126 Jan 1st, 01, 10:15 PM I have a 69 SS, i was wondering did any of the 69's come out of the factory with right side mirrors? ive seen right side mirrors in catologs like year one but im pretty sure they had a bowtie engraved on the back (not like mine), ive always thougt the right side looked like it was missing something but can anyone tell me if they all were missing something or just some?
SS_Dave Jan 2nd, 01, 5:11 AM I'm not positive about the SS, but the Malibu only offered the passengers side view mirror as an option. I have what is supposed to be a factory reproduction and there is no bowtie on the back.
the 69 mirror didn't have a bow tie on it
mine has one on the right side but I don't know if it came that way or someone added it since I never found a build sheet
If you by one, make sure it is tight on it's ball joint because there is no way to tighten it up
I bought a brand new NOS still in the GM box and put it on but it wouldn't stay in place so after driving a few blocks it would be pointing down at the ground
I put my old one back on.

Love your enemies. It will drive them nuts
Don_Lightfoot Jan 2nd, 01, 7:07 AM Right side mirrors for 69 were only a dealer installed option, not factory. There are no bowties on the 69 mirrors.
I've recently ordered one in to put on my ride.

Dan Orgill Jan 2nd, 01, 10:02 AM Dean, I remember on my last Chevelle the mirror did that all the time. What a pain! It was like a relationship, all the little things drive you nuts. What made it worse was the fact the mirror, like yours, was brand new via a prior owner.

RatMotor69 Jan 2nd, 01, 6:39 PM Had this same thing happen to me, unfortunately, I bought my mirror at a swap meet and couldn't return it. I decided since I was stuck with it, I'd do "something" to stop the droop! I took a pair of needle-nose vise-grips and "roughed up" the pivot ball. Stopped the droops! It gave the mirror head something to grab on to.
