I am going to purchase an HVLP gravity spray gun to paint my wheel wells, under hood and other large parts.
I have a homemade exhaust vented paint booth in my basement, the compressor is in the garage. I have about 125 feet of house running from the garage into the work room in the basement to the sandbalst cabinet. At the cabinet I have one of those small moisture removing things, don't know what it's called, picked it up at home depot. I have another one hooked up at the compressor.

I note the one on the blast cabinet does fill with water and it really helps keeping water out of the cabinet, being that I will use the hose going to the bast cabinet for the spray gun do I need to put one of these misture removers on the spray gun? Or is there another method I should use.

Thks

you want the moisture separator as far from the compressor as possible for the best results. When the air is compressed in the compressor, it gets hot and retains moisture. As the air cools going down the hose, the moisture falls away and is picked up in the separator. If you have the separator in the garage 125' from the compressor, I would just hook a new section of hose downstream of the separator to the gun. Run the compressor for 10 min or so before painting and empty the separator. If you ever used an automatic oiler for air tools with any of your hose get new stuff for use just with paints, any oil residue will ruin the paint.

You could also make a sort of trap by using a tee with air coming in at one end, trap vith valve other end and pull air from the tee or elbow portion.
Also, like drptop70ss said, cool it off and the water will drop out. You can cool by routing the air thru a piece of copper tubing coiled up.

Just some thoughts.
