I want to convert my 70 SS Clone to front disc brakes. What spindles from which junkyard cars would fit, and is it even advisable to try the junkyard route? Thanks for the info!

The "yards" are one of the best places to get these spindles but you have to beat everyone else there. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif Try checking your local Buy and Sell or Bargain Finder. The spindles you want must come from any A-body car, chevelle, el camino, cutlass etc from years 68-72. If possible get the proportioning valve at the same time, calipers and rotors can still be purchased at most local parts stores.

davewright, One of the easiest ways to go about this would be to get your drum spindles machined/drilled/tapped to accept the caliper brackets the the disc calipers use. In FACT, I will have an extra set of brackets for sale in about 2 weeks. I can throw in an unusable disc spindle that you can use to show the machinist what needs done.

You can get everything else you need at an auto parts store. The hardest thing to come by is the brackets and a good pair of spindles. You are already half way there.

For specifics on price and what not email me. dga@erinet.com
