: Hard Stainless Lines

I'm thinking of putting stainless fuel, brake and trans. lines in my 70 Chevelle. How difficult is a double flare on these lines? Summit has them for $20-$30 per 20 ft. roll, so it seems like not such a bad idea for lifetime (hopefully) lines. Any comments appreciated!

Dave, They are readily available on the aftermarket and stainless is a real bear to bend, esp short radius. Try Right Stuff. They have everything you need. I dont have their # with me,but someone will post it for you.

Tim,
I absolutely agree with Leo. SS is a bear to work with, ESPECIALLY if you don't have the premium tools to bend and flare it. SS splits in the blink of an eye http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif also, I am familiar with SS in the aviation world. It's not like working with soft steel lines that you can buy at NAPA.
Your choice to convert to SS fuel/brake lines is excellent, but you would be $$$$ and miles ahead to buy pre-formed lines as Leo suggests. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Heres 2 pennies for yeah.
Why not get pre made(bent) lines from Ground Up. Is the price that far out? (add time and parts + tools that will make life ezeeier?) This is the way i plan to go

Most of the vendors have your order drop-shipped from the Right Stuff. You can pay the middleman, or order direct, 1-800-405-2000.

Well here's another vote to buy direct from Right Stuff Detailing. Hey Leo how bout ya actually do some real work while ur getting paid and let me answer some of these easy ones? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif BTW anyone need some 64 conv. parts? I got a bunch of things I don't think Leo needs anymore... just kidding!
