First of all, are Chevelle -A- body? and anyone experienced 17" wheels onto a 69 SS convertible?

Second, Cragar is starting to produce the old style Cragar SS into 16" wheels and 17" wheels. I thought it could be a nice addition to my already converted SS to fuel injection, computer, sensors 4 speeds lock up tranny and all.

I read we could fit 17"X 9 1/2" with 5 1/2" rear spacing up front and as much as 17" X 11" also 5 1/2" rear spacing for the back and use 275/40 for the front and 315/35 for the back. All tires measurements are for BF Goodrich G-Force BT/A.

My intentions would be to use 17" by 8" with 4 1/2" rear spacing with 245/50/17 up front and 17" by 9" with 5 1/2" rear spacing with 305/45/17 for the back this time using BFG. T/A HR4 series.

Any comments on this setup???

im running 255/45/17's all the way around, and have lotsa room in the back for more meat, KEEP in mind i have a LOT more vibration in the car (feedback) cuz the tires don't take the shock, keep this in mind i kinda wish they were smoother but guess that's the price you pay for COOL WHEELS

the 68-72 chevelles are a-bodies. i think the 64-67's are too.
don't know what 73up chevelles were.maybe g-bodies.
ijust recently put 17's on my 68. i was shocked that the rears fit. they are 315/35/17. it is like i planned the perfect fit. (the wheels are from my truck and have them off for the winter.)
there is no more room. the rims are billet specialies aliens. they are stamped 17x9 but the catalog i came across says 17x9.5.the back spacing is 5.5" the total width of the rim w/ tire mounted is 12 1/8".
i think for what you are looking to do with the rear rims i think would be too wide of a rim. i think 9.5" is better. the 11's will cause too wide of a tire.
the rear of my car could be lowered all the way and the tire won't hit the 1/4.
the front tires i used are 255/40/17. i didn't check rim size. i'm guessing that the back spacing is 4.5". if i were to keep these wheels for this car i would change the front tires to a taller profile. maybe 45-50 series. the 40's look too thin on the side.

Thank you guys.

I think I will stick to my first choice, use 17" by 8" with 4 1/2" rear spacing with 245/50/17 up front and 17" by 9" with 5 1/2" rear spacing with 305/45/17 for the back using BFG. T/A HR4 series.

I'll have to deal with road imperfections and vibrations.

Appreciate your time and experience
