i need a casting # off a 396 short waterpump.i'm changing from long to short on a 66 and the part store keeps trying to sell me the long one.they say thats what their book said is right,but its 5 1/2in. tall not 4 11/16in. like i want.thanks todd

i dont know if this will help or not but the only numbers that i could find on my short b.b water pump are as follows,middle front right side (facing front of pump)5821 just below that 670-1, middle front left 30926,but i dont honestly know if these are the numbers you need ,if your parts house cant give what you need then change parts houses if possible or go to your local junk yard and see if you can find a short pump to either get the numbers off of or to take to your parts house to see if they really have one but just dont know it.hope this helps
